The day

About the day.

Koh Mat Sum sits thirty minutes from Bophut — the closest island to Samui, small enough to walk across in twenty minutes. The beach is wide and white, the water shallow and warm, and the small resident pigs are more or less tame. The reefs around the neighbouring Koh Tan are shallow and full of colour, and the channel between the two islands is usually calm. This is a half-day for guests travelling with children, or for a second day on the water when the first has been long, or for groups whose Samui holiday does not allow for a full crossing.

Questions about Koh Mat Sum.

How much does a private Koh Mat Sum charter cost?
A private Koh Mat Sum charter is 25,000 THB for the whole boat, up to 12 guests. That works out to about 2,083 THB per guest at capacity. Includes the private speedboat with captain, Minseo as PADI Master Freediver guide, all freediving and snorkeling equipment, drinking water, fruit, and a short film of the day.
Do I need freediving experience for Koh Mat Sum?
No. Minseo shapes the day around your party — surface practice and coaching for first-timers, deeper descents for those who are ready. The charter is yours, so the pace is yours too.
What happens if the weather cancels a Koh Mat Sum day?
Minseo confirms sea state the day before. If BADA cancels for weather, you receive a full refund or a free date change. You never lose a deposit to the Gulf.
How many people can join a Koh Mat Sum charter?
Four to twelve guests aboard. The boat is always yours and no one else's for the day. Minimum four keeps the charter economical; twelve is the legal capacity.
Where does the Koh Mat Sum charter depart from?
The boat departs from Fisherman's Village Pier in Bophut, Koh Samui. Hotel pickup on Samui is included. Minseo sends the exact meeting point and time once your date is confirmed.
How far in advance should I reserve Koh Mat Sum?
Three to five days is comfortable. During peak season (December to April) a week or more is wise, especially for weekends. A 35% deposit secures the date.
