The crossing
Two days is what the Gulf asks for, if it is asked honestly. The first day is Sail Rock — the pinnacle at forty meters, the deeper water, the long morning light. We anchor that evening at a small bay on the north of Koh Phangan, outside the party coast, and sleep aboard or in a modest beach house depending on the season. The second day is Ang Thong — quieter water, longer surface intervals, the lagoon at mid-tide. This is the only BADA day that crosses two sunrises, and it changes the way the water feels. Available by request only, September through March, and limited to one crossing per week.
The two days
Day one
First light from Bophut. A ninety-minute crossing to the pinnacle. Long surface intervals. Dives in forty meters of open water. Lunch aboard while the charter fleet arrives from Koh Tao. By mid-afternoon we cross west to a small anchor bay on the north of Koh Phangan, outside the party coast. Sunset on deck. Dinner prepared by a private chef. Sleep aboard or in a modest beach house, depending on the season and your preference.
Day two
Breakfast aboard at first light. An hour's cruise to the marine park. The lagoon at Thale Nai opens at mid-tide. We swim the limestone walls, anchor between Ko Wua Talap and Ko Phi for lunch, and spend the afternoon where the light is still good. Return to Samui before dusk.
